Focus on good, sustainable and local building materials
in Fredericia Municipality
Fredericia Municipality has several, formerly private, houses and properties that the municipality is in charge of demolishing. Every time the municipality and the building are ready, Gamle Mursten Tech goes out and takes bricks that are tested in our laboratory, and if everything looks good, the bricks are sent to Svendborg after demolition, cleaned and put into storage.
When the municipality has its next local construction project, it can draw on pallets of its own local bricks that are available. Should bricks be missing, Gamle Mursten can always help find a solution and possibly add additional bricks.
The exciting thing about this model is that it is not decided in advance where the bricks from the demolitions will be used, but it is based on preserving a good, sustainable and local building material and making sure it is available for future construction.
In this way, an architect will be given an extra aspect to a new building in the municipality, and some local history will be passed on.
