If you are planning a demolition, we can help with material identification of the bricks.
You may need help estimating quantities, or want to know how to go about taking bricks for testing.
If you’re drafting the tender for a demolition and need a little help with the wording to ensure the bricks can be reused and don’t get crushed in the process, please get in touch.
If you have bricks available that need to be cleaned and used in your next construction project, we can advise you on the process of getting the bricks cleaned, CE marked, stored in a brick warehouse and delivered to building site at the right time. Contact us for an initial chat.
We don’t always have all the answers, but we’re happy to help you find them. We also draw on our knowledge from our own laboratory and we benefit from almost 20 years of experience in cleaning old recycled bricks, demolition and handling of old bricks, building sites and much more.
If a test of your bricks at GM Tech’s laboratory shows that the bricks can be reused, GM Tech will pay the freight to take the bricks to Svendborg for cleaning. This means you save the cost of disposing of a potentially large and heavy fraction in your demolition. This also means that the bricks are part of our daily testing procedure and you receive quality-assured building materials and CE-marked bricks.
There are many good reasons for recycling materials in general, and for recycling bricks in particular. The much sought-after documentation on recycled products is now available, the bricks can be tested at such an early stage that many questions are answered even before the existing property is demolished.
In specific terms, this means that the cost of demolition can be spent on recycling the bricks and securing raw material for the next building.
The standard price for brick testing is around DKK 1,000-1,200 per brick. There may be variables as to whether you can extract and send the bricks to us yourself, or whether we should come to you and extract the bricks.
Worth remembering:
- Incorporate as many of the old bricks into the new building
- If there are many half bricks in the old building, include them in the new brickwork.
- If there is a difference in colour between the facade and the rear wall, consider the design possibilities this offers for the new building.
- Many building materials can be recycled, so check how you want the materials to be treated before formulating the tender.
- Make sure you have a good and clear dialogue with the demolisher and the person in the big machine, so you don’t end up with a pile of broken rubble instead of fine building bricks.
- Ask questions about anything! Gamle Mursten Tech is happy to advise.
